Bar Work Jobs
When it comes to bar wok jobs, there are many positions which are available and while some positions may be a tipped income, others are not. For starters you have the all important bartender position which seems to be one of the most important positions in the bar. This bartender needs to know his or her drinks and be able to handle working in some pretty stressful situations as well as sometimes offering an ear to listen to someone’s problems.
After the bartender, when it comes to bar work jobs you then have the waiting staff. Since the bartender cannot obviously constantly leave the bar, you need wait staff who can take orders for patrons who are not sitting at the bar as well as delivering them their drinks and food. This position is usually always a tipped position as well which may make it a perfect position for you.
As each patron leaves the bar and a new one comes in, an important bar work job is that of the cleanup crew or bus boys who come out, collect the plates and glasses and take them back to be washed. They take care of whipping down the tables and cleaning up after each customer. While these are not usually a directly tipped position, they do tend to share in the house tips since they play an important role in ensuring that the wait staff as well as the bartender is able to make tips and it is not uncommon for a member of the cleanup crew to walk away with some pocket cash at the end of the day.
You cannot go to the bar without eating something as it helps you hold your liquor. Many bars also offer meals and snacks and for this reason many bar work jobs include the chef position. In this position, you are usually required to have some experience because you may be working by yourself throwing together fish and chips, hamburgers, fries and other delectable meals and finger foods. While this is not usually a tipped position, in the smaller bars it is not unusual for some one to specifically tip the chef especially if the food is good.
People at a bar tend to get a bit rowdy from time to time and sometimes a fight can break out or even someone can get a bit overly touchy. In this case it is an important bar work job known as security. In the larger bars and clubs there may be several bouncers located throughout the bar as well as a doorman at the front door but in the smaller establishments there might only be a doorman. This position usually requires experience and some establishments may also require that you are a registered security professional.
All in all, there are many great bar work jobs that are available, some are tipped while others are not and some require experience while others do not. It is important that you take the time to check out what is available for you to do and go from there.
